HEISMAN WINNERS DON'T ALWAYS SUCCEED - IN NFL.(Sports)

The fate of the free world is not in the hands of the U.S. Postal Service this week, a significant relief, but the settling of the Heisman Trophy race is. With postmarks due Thursday night on more than 800 Heisman ballots and expectations for one of the closest votes ever, it's difficult for some people to tell the difference.

Whether it's Andre or Major or A.T. or Emmitt who eventually accepts the trophy Saturday, thousands of fans on an imagined first-name basis with another particular hero will scream that a gross injustice has been done.
