SA: Thousands gather for SA dawn service

About 5,000 people have joined dignitaries, government representatives and militarychiefs at the traditional Anzac Day dawn service in Adelaide.

Under cool but dry conditions, South Australian Governor MARJORIE JACKSON-NELSON laidthe first wreath at the base of the war memorial.

Other wreaths were presented by Premier MIKE RANN, ROB LUCAS of the Liberal Opposition,Adelaide Lord Mayor ALFRED HUANG and Liberal Senator GRANT CHAPMAN, representing the federalgovernment.

Also taking part in the service were representatives of the New Zealand governmentand the local Turkish Association.
